Will a Trump become the next Speaker of the House?

As we are living in the age of conspiracy theories, I should start by pointing out that the content of this blog post is (almost) entirely a product of my own mind set when it comes to the reliability (or lack thereof) of former President Donald Trump. Almost, as the trigger mechanism for my message comes from an exterior source, namly Thursday’s Ari Melber show at MSNBC. As you can hear him confirming around 02:15 in the clip below, it is indeed possible for a person who is not a sitting member of Congress (e.g. Donald Trumo) to be named Speaker of the House.

I find this information indeed scary, in particular because most polls indicate that GOP will regain control of the Hourse after the mid-term elections next year.

Note: I doubt that Donald Trump actually wants to become the Speaker of the House. First of all, the position is probably not prestigious enough for his ego. Even though it will put him as number three in the country, he will still be behind President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris. Also, he probably doesn’t find it interesting to replace his current life at Mar-a-Lago with legislative work in the Capitol building. But; as Speaker of the House, he will be entitled to briefings on classified intelligence matters by the executive branch.

During Trump’s Presidency from 2017 to 2021, I suspect that numerous American secrets were unveiled. E.g. in May 15, 2017, Reuters reported: “President Donald Trump disclosed highly classified information to Russia’s foreign minister about a planned Islamic State operation, two U.S. officials said on Monday”. When it comes to this particular incident, it looks like it happened more or less at random (because Trump acted careless). However, I find it hard not to think that the many bad actors of the world (like e.g. Russia, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Quatar etc.. ) never took advantage of the fact that the Trump White House was basically a corrupt entreprise.

CREW is a leading ethics watchdog organization that takes relentless legal and investigative actions holding people in power to account. In an article from January 15, 2021, entitled “President Trump’s legacy of corruption, four years and 3,700 conflicts of interest later“, they write: “Next week marks the end of Donald Trump’s term as President. In his wake, he will leave behind a legacy of profound corruption and egregious conflicts of interest, the repercussions of which will echo for years after he is gone. In the last four years, Trump has flouted all kinds of norms set by previous presidents”.

I am aware that the following may sound like a traditional conspiracy theory, but anyway, here it goes: I believe there are many bad actors in the world that traded money for classified information during the Trump Presidency. Currently, Donald Trump has no longer access to classified information, as we could read the following in The Washington Post on February 6 this year: “President Biden said Friday that former president Donald Trump should not have access to classified information in the form of the briefings usually given to ex-presidents, citing Trump’s “erratic behavior” and the risk that he might recklessly reveal sensitive information.” However, as Speaker of the House and therefore a member of the Gang of 8, the classified information would once more become available.

My prediction is therefore as follows: Prior to the mid-term elections in 2022, Donald Trump will announce that when GOP retakes the House, the new Speaker will be Donald Trump Jr. or Ivanka Trump.
